*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ávila, in the Castile and León region, offers a contrast between high mountain lakes in the Sierra de Gredos and lower-elevation reservoirs. Glacial lakes such as the Laguna Grande de Gredos remain cold year-round: in winter their surface temperatures can be close to freezing (0–4 °C / 32–39 °F) and even in summer they typically stay low, roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). By contrast, embalses and lower reservoirs in the province warm more noticeably with the seasons. Typical seasonal ranges there run from about 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in winter, through 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) in spring and autumn, to roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) in the warmest summer months, though exact values depend on depth, exposure and recent weather.
Swimming is possible in Ávila but depends on the specific body of water and local rules. Lower reservoirs and designated bathing areas are used for swimming when authorities permit it and when water quality and safety conditions are met; lifeguards, signage and regulated access are common in those spots. Mountain lakes are generally unsuitable for prolonged bathing because of very low temperatures, sudden weather changes and limited rescue services, so visitors should follow posted restrictions and exercise caution.
