** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Orăștie is a small town in western Transylvania, Romania, set near a series of small rivers, ponds and man-made reservoirs rather than a large natural lake. Water bodies in the Orăștie area follow the regional seasonal pattern: in winter surface temperatures commonly range from just below freezing up to about 4 °C (28–39 °F), spring brings a steady rise to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), summer months often warm the shallows to about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) with peak mid‑August values sometimes approaching 27–28 °C (81–82 °F) in calm, shallow areas, and autumn sees a rapid cooling back through 15–8 °C (59–46 °F) toward winter. Deeper or flowing waters remain cooler and respond more slowly to air temperature changes.
Swimming is possible seasonally at local reservoirs and designated recreational spots when temperatures reach comfortable levels, but it is not universally permitted anywhere on every waterbody. Access and safety depend on local regulations, water quality, presence of lifeguards or marked bathing areas, and hazards such as currents, underwater debris or sudden depth changes. Visitors should follow posted signs and municipal guidance; in practice, most informal swimming around Orăștie occurs in July–August when surface temperatures are warmest and conditions are most suitable for bathing.
