*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Sibiu, in central Romania, is crossed by the Cibin River and surrounded by several small lakes and reservoirs used for recreation and irrigation. Water temperatures in these inland bodies vary strongly with the seasons: in winter they commonly fall to near freezing, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), often forming ice in cold spells. Spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall increase flows. Peak summer temperatures in sheltered lakes and slow-moving stretches of rivers typically reach 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), while faster-flowing sections of the Cibin may be a bit cooler, around 15–22 °C (59–72 °F). Autumn cooling returns temperatures to roughly 8–16 °C (46–61 °F), with variability depending on recent weather.
Swimming in Sibiu’s natural waters is seasonally possible but not uniformly endorsed: during warm months many people swim in appropriate lake areas and gentle river bends where access is safe and water quality is acceptable. Official municipal swimming facilities and monitored sites are preferable because of signage, lifeguards and regular water testing. Wild swimming carries considerations — variable currents, sudden depth changes, lower visibility and occasional poor water quality after heavy rains — and authorities may restrict access or advise against swimming for safety and health reasons. Winter swimming occurs only among experienced, prepared participants and when conditions make it safe.
