*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pontedera sits in the lower Arno valley of Tuscany and is close to small inland lakes and the Arno river rather than large alpine reservoirs. Surface temperatures in local lakes and slow-moving river backwaters follow the regional seasonal pattern: in winter they typically range from about 5–10 °C (41–50 °F), spring temperatures commonly rise to roughly 8–16 °C (46–61 °F), summer surface values often reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) on warm days, and autumn sees a cooling to approximately 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Shallow sections warm and cool more quickly than deeper basins, so measured temperatures can vary by several degrees depending on depth, time of day and recent weather.
Swimming is possible in some designated lakes and managed bathing spots in the greater Tuscan area, but within Pontedera itself swimming in the Arno or unregulated ponds is generally not recommended because of currents, variable water quality and the absence of lifeguards. Local municipalities post rules and quality reports for specific sites, and permitted bathing areas will be marked and monitored during the season. After heavy rain water quality can deteriorate, so checking municipal advisories and choosing officially sanctioned beaches or lidos is the safest option for bathing.
