Keszthely, located on the western shore of Lake Balaton, is one of the most popular places for swimming in the region. The water near Keszthely warms up quickly in early summer because the lake is shallow in this area. By June, temperatures usually reach 20–22°C, and in July and August the water often rises to 24–26°C, sometimes even warmer close to the shore during hot weather.
