Water Temperature Trends
Split-Dalmatia County, located along Croatia’s southern Adriatic coast, enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny summers and mild winters. The water temperatures along its coastline are particularly pleasant during the summer months, reaching between 23°C and 26°C (73°F and 79°F) from June to September. These warm temperatures make it a popular destination for swimming, snorkeling, and other water activities. The coastline is dotted with numerous beaches and coves, offering a variety of places to enjoy the clear, turquoise waters.
In early autumn, the water temperature in Split-Dalmatia County remains relatively warm, with averages between 21°C and 23°C (70°F and 73°F) in September and October. This makes the region still very suitable for swimming, especially for those looking to enjoy the sea after the summer crowds have dispersed. However, as the weather cools in November, the water temperatures begin to dip, ranging from 16°C to 18°C (61°F to 64°F), signaling the end of the swimming season for most visitors. By winter, from December to February, the water becomes much colder, averaging between 12°C and 14°C (54°F and 57°F), and swimming is no longer common.
