Water Temperature Trends
Zadar County, located in central Dalmatia along Croatia's Adriatic coast, is known for its stunning coastline and pleasant Mediterranean climate. During the summer months, from June to September, water temperatures in Zadar County typically range from 22°C to 26°C (72°F to 79°F), making it ideal for swimming and various water activities. The warm sea invites both tourists and locals to enjoy the clear, blue waters of the Adriatic, with numerous beaches offering opportunities for relaxation and water sports.
As the season transitions into autumn, the water temperature gradually decreases, with September still offering relatively warm waters between 21°C and 23°C (70°F to 73°F). In October, the water can drop further to around 18°C to 20°C (64°F to 68°F), although swimming remains comfortable for some, especially in the early part of the month. By November, the water temperature has fallen to around 15°C to 17°C (59°F to 63°F), which makes swimming less common and mainly for those who are accustomed to cooler waters.
During the winter months, from December to February, the sea temperatures in Zadar County are much colder, averaging between 12°C and 14°C (54°F to 57°F). While swimming is not typical during this time, the coastal waters still remain calm and clear, offering a peaceful setting for those who wish to enjoy the natural beauty of the region without the crowds of summer.
