Andaman Sea Water Temperature Today & Regional Overview
We find every place where you can swim and show you the water temperature there today and throughout the year.
Current Water Temperature
The water temperature in the Andaman Sea today ranges from 29.2°C (Similan Islands, Thailand) to 30.6°C (Koh Muk, Thailand).
As of today, the minimum water temperature in the Andaman Sea is above 82°F (28°C). This is very warm water, which may feel almost hot to most people. Swimming in such conditions is perfect for those seeking relaxation and comfort in the water. These waters are often preferred for relaxation in hot weather, as the water temperature does not cool the body significantly. However, it is important to remember that in such warm waters, caution is necessary, as prolonged exposure without rest can lead to overheating.
It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.
Sea Temperature Trends
Over the past month, the water temperature in the Andaman Sea has remained almost unchanged. In general, the sea water temperature remains within the statistical range for this time of year.

The Andaman Sea typically has warm surface waters year-round, with seasonal variations that reflect the regional monsoon cycle. During the cooler months of December to February, surface temperatures commonly range from about 26°C to 28°C. As the region moves into the pre-monsoon and hottest period around March to May, temperatures often rise to roughly 29°C to 31°C. The southwest monsoon season from June through September usually brings increased mixing and slightly lower but still warm surface temperatures around 27°C to 29°C, while the transition months of October and November commonly see readings near 27°C to 28°C. Local factors such as proximity to shore, currents and depth can produce small differences, with deeper waters generally remaining cooler than surface measurements.
Swimming Conditions
Swimming in the Andaman Sea is generally possible for much of the year because of these warm temperatures, and beaches and resort areas commonly promote bathing, snorkeling and swimming. However, conditions that affect safety are seasonal: the monsoon brings stronger winds, higher waves and more persistent currents that can make swimming hazardous despite warm water. Seasonal jellyfish blooms, tidal currents and local water quality issues can also restrict safe access in some spots. For this reason, swimmers are advised to follow local advisories, heed lifeguard instructions and choose sheltered beaches during rough periods to ensure safe entry into the sea.
