*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Tiétar, an important tributary of the Tagus running from the Sierra de Gredos through Castile and León into Extremadura, shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature. In winter the river often cools to roughly 6–10 °C (43–50 °F), while spring temperatures rise to about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) as snowmelt and rain increase flow. Summer brings the warmest conditions in sheltered pools and slower reaches, typically 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) and occasionally touching 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) in shallow, sun-exposed areas; autumn sees a gradual decline to around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Local factors such as altitude, shading, recent rainfall and releases from reservoirs can push temperatures lower or higher than these typical ranges.
Swimming in the Río Tiétar is permitted in many accessible stretches and is a common recreational activity, particularly in summer when temperatures are most comfortable. However, it is subject to local regulations, private land boundaries, water quality monitoring and safety concerns like currents, sudden depth changes and submerged obstacles. Some official bathing sites and calm pools are favored for safety and easier access, while other areas may be discouraged or prohibited for conservation or hazard reasons. Visitors should check local signage and recent water-quality information before swimming.
