** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Tajo (Tagus) in its Aragonese upper course runs through mountainous terrain, so water temperatures tend to be relatively low compared with lowland stretches. Typical seasonal ranges in these reaches are roughly: winter about 2–8 °C (35.6–46.4 °F) due to altitude and snowmelt influence; spring roughly 6–14 °C (42.8–57.2 °F) as flows remain cool but start to warm; summer generally 15–22 °C (59–71.6 °F) in slower, sun-exposed pools and reservoirs, occasionally reaching the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F) in very shallow, sheltered spots; autumn commonly 8–16 °C (46.4–60.8 °F) as temperatures decline. Local variations are strong: shaded gorges and fast-flowing sections stay colder year-round, while impoundments and meadows warm sooner.
Swimming is possible in some calmer reaches and in reservoirs where bathing is not explicitly prohibited, but it is not universally permitted or advisable. Restrictions arise for safety—cold temperatures, strong currents, submerged rocks and sudden releases from upstream dams—and for environmental protection in sensitive natural areas. Water quality in the upper Tagus is often good, yet municipal or conservation rules and on-site signage determine permitted activities. Visitors should check local regulations, avoid high-flow conditions, and be aware that even in summer the water can be uncomfortably cold for prolonged immersion.
