*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Vantaanjoki River flows through the Uusimaa region in southern Finland, beginning in Hausjärvi and ending in the Gulf of Finland near Helsinki. The river’s water temperature varies throughout the year depending on the weather, flow rate, and season. In spring, after the ice melts, the temperature is around 5–8 °C (41–46 °F). During early summer, it rises to 14–17 °C (57–63 °F), and in July, the warmest month, the river usually reaches 18–21 °C (64–70 °F). On very hot days, shallow areas may temporarily reach 22–23 °C (72–73 °F). In autumn, the temperature falls below 10 °C (50 °F), and during winter, many sections partly freeze or stay near 0 °C (32 °F).
Swimming in the Vantaanjoki is officially allowed in designated areas, although it is not as common as lake swimming due to varying water quality and currents. In summer, the water is generally safe for bathing, especially near maintained swimming spots such as those around Helsinki and Vantaa. The river offers opportunities for swimming, canoeing, and fishing, and during warm months, locals enjoy cooling off in its calm stretches. The Vantaanjoki remains an important natural and recreational feature in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
