*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Odiel River flows through the province of Huelva in southwestern Spain and joins the Tinto River before reaching the Atlantic Ocean near the city of Huelva. It originates in the Sierra de Aracena, where it begins as a small mountain stream, carrying mineral-rich waters that give it distinctive reddish tones in some areas. The river’s temperature changes significantly throughout the year, influenced by the mild Atlantic climate. In winter, the water typically ranges between 8 and 12 °C, rising to 14–18 °C in spring. During summer, the temperature can reach 22–26 °C in its lower sections, while the upper parts remain somewhat cooler. In autumn, it gradually drops again to around 15–18 °C.
Despite its relatively mild temperature in summer, swimming in the Odiel River is generally not recommended. In many stretches, especially in the upper basin, the water is affected by natural mineralization and residual mining activity, leading to elevated acidity and a reddish hue. These conditions make the river unsuitable for bathing, though it remains visually striking. However, in its lower reaches near the estuary, where the river mixes with cleaner tidal waters, some areas can be used for recreation, boating, or nature observation, offering a scenic yet cautious experience.
