** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Rio Ardila in Évora District experiences typical Mediterranean river temperatures that vary by season and by location along its course. In winter the water is cool, commonly around 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), while spring temperatures rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) as flows increase and air warms. In summer, shallow and slow-moving reaches can warm to about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), making the river most comfortable for immersion, and autumn temperatures tend to sit between 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) as cooling begins. Local factors — such as shade, depth, inflows, recent rainfall and impoundments — produce significant variability, so actual temperatures at a given spot may differ from these seasonal ranges.
Swimming in the Rio Ardila is often possible in accessible, non-restricted stretches because there is no single, district-wide ban, but it depends on local ownership, signage and water quality assessments. In summer the milder temperatures make bathing more appealing, yet swimmers should be cautious of currents, submerged hazards, low visibility and the absence of lifeguards. In colder months the risk of cold-water shock and hypothermia increases when temperatures fall below about 15 °C (59 °F). Municipal or environmental authorities may close sites after pollution events or during low flows, so checking local notices and exercising common-sense safety is advisable.
