** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Río Mijares in Aragon is a mountain river whose water temperature varies strongly with season and elevation. In the high reaches during winter the river can be very cold, commonly around 2–8 °C (36–46 °F). In spring, melting snow and higher flows usually keep it cool, roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). By summer, slower pools and lower flow sections warm up and are often in the 16–24 °C range (61–75 °F), with isolated sunlit pools occasionally reaching the mid‑20s °C (mid‑70s °F) during heat waves. Autumn sees temperatures fall again, typically between 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as rains and cooler air reduce surface warmth.
Swimming in the Río Mijares is commonly practiced in suitable stretches, especially in summer when temperatures are comfortable; there are no blanket bans across the river because it is a public watercourse, but local rules, protected-area restrictions or safety advisories may apply in specific spots. Caution is advised due to cold water shock in winter and spring, strong currents in narrow gorges, submerged rocks and sudden rises in flow after storms. Water quality can vary after heavy rain. Choosing well‑known bathing pools, checking local guidance and avoiding risky sections near dams or rapids makes swimming far safer.
