The Turia (Río Turia) in Valencia is more known today for its wide dry riverbed turned urban park than as a continuous swimming river through the city. Water temperatures vary widely depending on location, depth, season and whether you refer to the small remaining flows through the city, the upstream mountain stretches, or the reservoirs in the basin. Typical seasonal surface ranges for the more natural stretches are roughly winter 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), spring 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), summer 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) and autumn 14–20 °C (57–68 °F), while shallow pools and sheltered reservoirs can warm a few degrees higher in hot summers.
Swimming within the central Turia park itself is generally not an option: the old riverbed is now a recreational greenway and there is little continuous, accessible flowing water, and local regulations or safety considerations often prohibit bathing. Recreational swimming is possible in upstream river gorges, natural pools and some designated freshwater spots, but access and legality depend on local rules and water-management protections (reservoirs that serve as drinking-water sources often forbid bathing). Always check signage and municipal regulations before entering the water for safety and legal reasons.
