Mezitli Çayı, a small river running through the Mezitli district of Mersin on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, has water temperatures that reflect the region’s warm climate and the river’s shallow, often fast-moving character. In winter the water commonly ranges from about 8 to 14 °C (46 to 57 °F), spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), summer can push surface temperatures into the range of 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in shallower stretches, and autumn cools back toward roughly 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). Local conditions such as recent rainfall, shade, and upstream springs or runoff can cause short-term deviations from these general seasonal bands.
Swimming in Mezitli Çayı is not a widely promoted activity and is often discouraged for several reasons.
