Water Temperature: Daily Trends, Historical Records, and Forecast
⚠️ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 54°F (12°C) to 60°F (15°C). The water is significantly warmer, and swimming becomes possible for most people. However, caution may still be required for prolonged stays in the water, as extended exposure can cause discomfort. This is a suitable temperature range for short swims and for those accustomed to cooler water. For more comfortable swimming, it is recommended to use proper gear. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Loudias (Λουδίας) is a relatively short river in Central Macedonia that flows into the Thermaic Gulf, and its water temperature reflects a mix of groundwater input, seasonal runoff and the regional Mediterranean climate. In winter the river commonly cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), while spring temperatures typically rise to about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as snowmelt and higher flows warm. In summer the warmest stretches can reach around 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), though spring-fed sections and shaded channels often remain a few degrees cooler. During autumn temperatures generally fall back to about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) as air temperatures decline and flows increase.
Swimming in the Loudias is therefore physically possible in the warmer months, and locals sometimes bathe in calmer reaches, but it is not uniformly managed as a recreational watercourse. Water quality and safety vary along the river because of agricultural runoff, irrigation withdrawals, sometimes low flows, reedbeds and sections with stronger current; parts of the river and its delta are also ecologically sensitive. As a result there are few designated, lifeguarded bathing sites and authorities may discourage swimming in some stretches, so anyone considering entry should check local guidance and observe posted warnings.
