*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Gallikos River (Greek: Γαλλικός) in Central Macedonia flows from inland hills toward the Thermaic Gulf and exhibits the typical seasonal temperature pattern of lowland Mediterranean rivers. In winter the water commonly cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), while spring brings a rise into the 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) range as snowmelt and rains subside. In summer the shallow, slower reaches can warm to approximately 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), with the warmest temperatures occurring in July and August. During autumn temperatures usually fall back into the 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) band as air temperatures drop and flows increase.
Swimming in the Gallikos is possible in some local spots during the warm months because surface temperatures can feel pleasant, but it is not universally recommended or formally promoted as a bathing destination. Water quality varies with upstream agricultural runoff, urban effluent and seasonal low flows, and some stretches are shallow, muddy or carry stronger currents after rains; for those reasons local authorities or landowners may prohibit bathing in particular areas. Visitors interested in swimming should check municipal guidance, observe posted signs and favour well-monitored, cleaner locations rather than assuming the river is safe for unrestricted recreational use.
