** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Guadalquivir in Andalusia shows notable variation in water temperature along its course and through the seasons. In winter the river commonly ranges from about 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), colder in faster, shaded upland stretches and slightly warmer in lowland, slow-moving sections. Spring temperatures generally rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) as solar heating increases. In summer, shallow pools, slow meanders and reservoir-fed stretches can warm to around 20–28 °C (68–82 °F), while deeper, fast-flowing reaches remain cooler. Autumn sees a gradual cooling, often between 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) depending on recent weather and river flow. Local factors such as depth, flow rate, reservoir releases and groundwater inputs strongly influence these values.
Swimming in the Guadalquivir (Río Guadalquivir) is therefore a mixed proposition: it is permitted and commonly enjoyed in designated natural pools, reservoir beaches and rural spots in the upper basin where water quality and safety are acceptable, especially in summer when temperatures are highest. In contrast, swimming is discouraged or restricted in many urban and navigable sections—notably around major towns—because of strong currents, boat traffic, and variable water quality. Whether swimming is allowed depends on local regulations and monitoring, so visitors should heed signage and public-health advisories before entering the water.
