** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pitești, in the South-Muntenia region of Romania, is served by a nearby municipal lake and several small reservoirs whose surface water temperatures follow the temperate continental climate. In spring the water typically warms from about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as the ice melts and air temperatures rise. In summer surface temperatures commonly reach 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) and during hot spells can climb to 26–28 °C (79–82 °F) in shallow areas. In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), while in winter the surface often lies at or just above freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice forming in colder years.
Swimming is generally possible during the warm months, especially July and August, when surface temperatures are comfortable for bathing; however it depends on local rules and water quality monitoring. Designated swimming areas maintained by local authorities or recreation operators are safest because they account for currents, submerged hazards and bacterial or algal contamination. Authorities may prohibit bathing during pollution incidents, algal blooms or when ice is present, so locals and visitors should heed posted signs and advisories. Informal swimming still occurs, but safety and regulatory conditions determine whether it is officially allowed.
