*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir known locally as Embalse de Zahara-El Gastor, in the Sierra de Cádiz of Andalusia, experiences noticeable seasonal swings in water temperature due to its inland location, depth variations and Mediterranean climate. Typical winter temperatures commonly range from about 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), spring from roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), summer surface waters often warm to around 20–27 °C (68–81 °F), and autumn waters cool again to approximately 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). Shallow coves and sunlit shores tend to be warmer than deeper parts of the reservoir, and short-term fluctuations follow recent air temperatures, rainfall and inflows from mountain streams.
Swimming and other recreational water activities are widely practiced at Zahara-El Gastor and the site is popular for bathing, kayaking and paddle sports. There are typically no permanent lifeguard services, and local authorities may impose temporary restrictions for safety, maintenance, low water levels or water-quality concerns, so visitors should heed on-site signage and municipal rules. Natural factors such as sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles and colder deep-water layers can affect comfort and safety, so swimmers are advised to choose sheltered, shallow areas and exercise caution.
