Swimming in such conditions is perfect for those seeking relaxation and comfort in the water. These waters are often preferred for relaxation in hot weather, as the water temperature does not cool the body significantly. ** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Guadarranque, located in Andalusia, experiences fairly typical Mediterranean reservoir temperatures that vary with the seasons. In winter surface temperatures commonly range from about 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F), and peak summer conditions can push the water to around 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) or slightly higher in prolonged heat. Autumn cooling is gradual, with temperatures often between 14–22 °C (57–72 °F). These values can fluctuate with annual weather patterns, reservoir depth and inflow, and measured temperatures at the surface can differ from deeper water.
Swimming at the Embalse de Guadarranque is generally restricted or discouraged for reasons common to many Spanish reservoirs: the body of water may serve supply or industrial functions, safety risks such as steep banks, submerged hazards and variable currents exist, and authorities may limit access to protect water quality and infrastructure. Where recreational bathing is permitted, it is usually confined to designated, supervised areas and only during the warmer months when surface temperatures are suitable for swimming. Visitors should consult local regulations and on-site signage before entering the water.
