*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Almodóvar in Andalusia experiences typical Mediterranean reservoir temperatures that vary noticeably with the seasons. In winter surface temperatures commonly sit around 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), while spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Peak warmth is reached in summer, when surface readings often range from about 20–28 °C (68–82 °F), though shallow coves can heat more on hot days. In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 16–22 °C (61–72 °F). These figures describe surface conditions; deeper water remains colder year-round and thermal stratification can create sharp temperature differences with depth and between shaded and exposed areas.
Swimming at the Embalse de Almodóvar is subject to local regulations and practical constraints. Many inland reservoirs in Spain are managed for drinking water, irrigation and flood control, and for those reasons authorities may restrict bathing to protect water quality and ensure safety. Hazards such as sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles, boat traffic and variable currents add risk, so official prohibitions or advisories are common. Informal swimming does occur in warmer months where enforcement is lax, but it is generally recommended to follow posted rules and municipal guidance: if signs prohibit bathing, swimming should be avoided to protect health, safety and the reservoir’s intended uses.
