** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Birmingham
Wychall Reservoir in Birmingham is a shallow, urban reservoir whose water temperature changes noticeably through the year. In mid-winter temperatures commonly sit around 3–7 °C (37–45 °F), rising through spring and autumn to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), and peaking in the warmest weeks of summer at about 16–22 °C (61–72 °F). These values vary year to year with air temperature, rainfall and cloud cover; because it is relatively shallow, Wychall warms and cools more quickly than larger lakes, so conditions can change rapidly.
Swimming is not officially permitted at Wychall Reservoir: local authorities restrict bathing for safety reasons such as cold-water shock, underwater hazards and variable water quality, and to protect wildlife in the reserve. Although some people may occasionally swim informally, entering the water is discouraged. Visitors are instead drawn to the surrounding green space, walking routes and birdwatching, along with nearby canal towpaths and local nature reserve amenities that offer recreational opportunities without getting into the water.
