*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#West Midlands (county)
Edgbaston Reservoir’s water temperature follows typical UK urban-reservoir patterns, cooling in winter and warming in summer. Surface temperatures in winter commonly sit around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), rising through spring to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In summer the reservoir can reach about 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) on warm days, while autumn sees a decline back toward 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). Exact figures vary with weather, depth and wind, and surface readings can be several degrees warmer than deeper layers, so conditions change quickly after cold spells or heat waves.
Swimming is not generally permitted and is discouraged for safety and water-quality reasons. The reservoir is used by rowing, sailing and angling groups, and there are risks from boat traffic, submerged structures, cold-water shock and occasional poor visibility. Some people do unregulated wild swims, but these are unofficial and carry hazards. The site is nonetheless pleasant for visitors, with a circular towpath for walking and cycling and nearby attractions such as Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Winterbourne House and Garden offering additional recreational options.
