*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Whitmore Lake, in southeastern Michigan, is a typical small inland lake whose water temperatures vary substantially through the year. During winter the surface often approaches freezing, roughly 32–39°F (0–4°C) and can be ice-covered for periods. Spring brings a steady warm-up with water commonly in the 40–60°F range (4–16°C) as ice breaks up and the lake stratifies. Peak summer temperatures are most comfortable for swimming, typically around 70–80°F (21–27°C) and on hot spells occasionally into the mid-80s °F (about 29°C). In autumn the lake cools again, with temperatures generally sliding through the 50–65°F band (10–18°C) before returning toward near-freezing conditions.
Swimming in Whitmore Lake is generally allowed because it is a recreational water body with public access points and shoreline properties used for bathing and boating. Designated swimming areas and parks permit entry when conditions are safe, but there are no universal lifeguard services and conditions can change: shallow areas, boat traffic, aquatic vegetation and occasional algae or bacterial advisories issued by local health authorities can restrict or make swimming unsafe. Visitors should check current water-quality notices and use common-sense precautions such as avoiding swimming alone and watching for posted warnings.
