*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir known locally as Embalse de Ulldecona typically shows a clear Mediterranean seasonal pattern in surface water temperature. In winter the surface usually falls to roughly 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), spring brings gradual warming to about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), and summer months—especially July and August—can see surface temperatures rise into the range of 20–28 °C (68–82 °F). In autumn temperatures decline again to roughly 14–22 °C (57–72 °F). These values vary year to year depending on rainfall, inflow, and weather; deeper layers remain cooler than surface readings and can create strong thermal stratification during hot, dry summers.
Swimming in reservoirs such as the Embalse de Ulldecona is subject to local rules and practical concerns. Many reservoirs are managed for water supply, irrigation, or flood control, so official bathing may be restricted to protect water quality and infrastructure; safety issues — steep banks, sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles and boat traffic — also lead authorities to limit or regulate access. Where swimming is permitted, it is most comfortable in the warmest summer weeks when surface temperatures reach the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F). Visitors should check on-site signage or local regulations before entering the water and take standard open-water safety precautions.
