** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Tenoroc Ponds area in central Florida experiences the kind of shallow-pond temperature swings typical of the region. In winter, surface water temperatures often fall into the 50–65°F range (about 10–18°C), occasionally dipping lower during strong cold fronts. Spring brings a steady warming to roughly 65–80°F (18–27°C). In summer the ponds frequently reach 75–90°F (24–32°C) or warmer in shallow, sun-exposed basins, and in autumn temperatures usually decline back toward the 65–80°F (18–27°C) band. Because the ponds are relatively shallow and exposed, they warm and cool quickly with air temperatures and typically do not develop strong thermal stratification.
Swimming at Tenoroc Ponds is not presented as a traditional beach or recreational swimming opportunity; there are no developed, lifeguarded swim areas and many ponds are managed primarily for fishing, wildlife habitat, and stormwater. For safety and resource-protection reasons — including variable water quality, thick aquatic vegetation, muddy bottoms, boating and fishing activity, and the potential presence of alligators — swimming is generally not recommended and may be restricted by local rules. Visitors should follow posted signs and check with land managers or local authorities about permitted activities and current conditions before entering the water.
