*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Tahkenitch Lake, a coastal lake in western Oregon, typically runs cool compared with inland lakes. Surface temperatures in summer generally range from about 60–75°F (15–24°C) in the warmest shallows on sunny afternoons, while spring and fall averages are nearer 45–60°F (7–15°C). In winter the lake often falls to roughly 35–45°F (2–7°C), especially below the surface or in deeper channels. Temperatures fluctuate by depth, wind and cloud cover, so shallow bays warm more quickly than the main basin and morning readings tend to be colder than afternoon highs.
Swimming is permitted in many of the lake’s public access and recreation areas, and people do swim there in summer when surface temperatures are most comfortable. However, swimmers should be aware that the water can remain brisk even on warm days, and there are generally no lifeguards on duty. Natural hazards such as sudden drop-offs, submerged logs and variable visibility make caution advisable. Occasional water-quality issues can also affect suitability for swimming, so following posted guidance from local authorities and using common-sense precautions—swimming with others, avoiding cold-water immersion alone, and drying off promptly—will reduce risks.
