** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Greater London
Low Maynard Reservoir, one of the small reservoirs in Greater London’s Havering area, tends to follow the seasonal patterns typical of shallow inland bodies of water. Surface temperatures in winter often range from about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F), rising through spring to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). By mid to late summer the water can warm to around 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on calm, sunny days, then cool back to 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) through autumn. Local conditions such as depth, inflow and air temperature can produce significant variation, and colder thermoclines or cooler inflows can make the water feel colder than the surface reading indicates.
Swimming at Low Maynard is generally not permitted or recommended. The reservoir forms part of the water supply and wetland system and carries risks from submerged structures, variable currents and cold-water shock; landowners and water authorities typically discourage unsupervised access for safety and protection reasons. Visitors interested in the area can instead enjoy nearby attractions such as the Rainham Marshes nature reserve, Hornchurch Country Park and riverside walking routes along the Ingrebourne, which offer birdwatching and accessible trails.
