Pomona Lake, a reservoir in east-central Kansas, experiences pronounced seasonal shifts in surface water temperature. In winter months the lake commonly cools to roughly 34–45°F (1–7°C) at the surface, while spring sees a gradual rise into the mid 40s to mid 60s°F (7–18°C). By summer, surface temperatures typically reach the 70s to mid‑80s°F (21–29°C), and on hot spells can climb into the upper 80s°F (30–31°C). Fall brings cooling back into the 50s and 60s°F (10–20°C) range. These figures are approximate and vary with weather, wind, depth and inflows; deeper water remains cooler year‑round and sudden temperature differences can occur near inlets or following heavy rains.
