** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pike Lake, like many small inland lakes in Wisconsin, experiences a wide seasonal swing in surface water temperature. In spring (April–May) the lake typically warms from near freezing up into the mid 40s–60°F (7–16°C) as ice melts and air temperatures rise. By early to mid-summer (June–July) shallow bays often reach the mid 60s to mid 70s °F (18–24°C), and during hot spells can climb into the upper 70s or low 80s °F (25–28°C) at the surface. Deeper water and shaded areas remain noticeably cooler throughout the year. In fall surface temperatures fall back through the 50s–60s °F (10–20°C) before the lake returns to near-freezing conditions in winter, when ice formation is common and open-water swimming is generally not possible.
Swimming is generally permitted at public access points and designated beaches on Pike Lake during the warmer months, subject to local park rules, posted advisories, and water-quality monitoring. Lifeguard presence, seasonal hours, and temporary closures for algal blooms or bacterial contamination can affect whether swimming is allowed on any given day, so visitors should heed signage and local guidance. Cold-water shock and rapidly changing weather are additional safety considerations; winter ice cover typically precludes normal recreational swimming except for organized, supervised cold-water events.
