*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
At reservoirs managed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, water temperature changes strongly with the seasons and with depth. In spring the surface often warms from roughly 50–70°F (10–21°C) as runoff and sunshine increase. Summer can push shallow surface waters into the 75–90°F range (24–32°C), with the warmest readings in late July and August; deeper layers remain cooler. In fall temperatures generally drop back to about 55–75°F (13–24°C) before winter brings surface readings commonly near 34–50°F (1–10°C), depending on air temperature and ice formation in the coldest spells. These ranges are typical for inland Oklahoma reservoirs but will vary by size, depth and local weather patterns.
Swimming is allowed at many state-managed reservoirs because they are intended for multiple public recreation uses, including fishing, boating and bathing. However, allowance is often limited to designated swim areas or shorelines to protect swimmers from boat traffic, intake structures and sudden depth changes. Occasionally swimming is restricted or advised against due to hazards such as harmful algal blooms, poor water quality, or safety concerns. Visitors should observe posted rules at a given reservoir and follow seasonal advisories; when permitted, summer months are the most popular for swimming because surface temperatures are warmest.
