*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Fort Cobb Lake’s surface temperatures follow typical inland reservoir patterns in central Oklahoma, warming through spring and peaking in summer before cooling in fall and winter. In winter months the water commonly sits around 35–50°F (2–10°C), making it very cold for prolonged immersion. Spring brings a gradual rise, often reaching 50–70°F (10–21°C) by late spring. Peak summer surface temperatures are generally in the 75–85°F range (24–29°C) and can climb higher during heat waves, offering the most comfortable conditions for swimming. As autumn arrives the lake cools back into the 55–75°F band (13–24°C) before dropping into winter lows again.
Swimming at Fort Cobb Lake is permitted in recreation areas and state park beaches where managers provide access for bathing and water play; the lake is managed as a multiuse reservoir with designated swim spots. Whether swimming is advisable depends on season, water level and quality, and posted advisories: cold winter water raises hypothermia risk, while warmer months can bring algal blooms or bacterial issues that prompt temporary closures. Lifeguards are not always present, so visitors should heed signage, follow park rules, and consider water temperature and conditions before entering.
