*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Martín Gonzalo, like many reservoirs in Andalusia, shows clear seasonal variation in surface temperature. In winter the lake commonly cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), while spring typically warms to about 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) as air temperatures rise. Peak summer surface temperatures often reach the low-to-high 20s °C, roughly 22–28 °C (72–82 °F), especially in warm, calm periods; autumn brings a gradual decline, with surface values frequently in the 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) range. These figures are approximate: actual temperatures depend on recent weather, reservoir depth, inflows and stratification, and can vary day to day and with depth (colder below the surface).
Swimming at Martín Gonzalo is possible in a recreational sense, but whether it is allowed at any given time depends on local regulations and signage, as authorities may restrict access for reasons of water supply protection, safety (steep banks, submerged hazards, currents) or water quality concerns such as algal blooms. Even where allowed, swimmers should be mindful of colder temperatures below the surface that increase cold-shock risk in spring and autumn, of variable visibility and underwater obstacles, and of seasonal changes in water quality; checking current local rules and conditions before entering the water is advisable.
