** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lowry Lake in Florida typically experiences warm water through much of the year, with seasonal variations driven by air temperature, depth and rainfall. In summer months water temperatures commonly reach about 80–88°F (27–31°C), making the lake broadly comfortable for swimming. During spring and fall the surface tends to be milder, roughly 68–78°F (20–26°C). Winter months can cool the lake to roughly 55–68°F (13–20°C) depending on how far north the lake lies and on recent cold fronts; shallower areas warm and cool faster than deeper basins.
Swimming at Lowry Lake is generally permitted where local access points and public parks are designated for recreation, but it’s conditioned by safety and water-quality considerations. Local authorities or property owners may post restrictions after heavy rains, during algal blooms or when tests show elevated bacterial levels. Natural hazards such as submerged vegetation, sudden drop-offs, boat traffic and wildlife (including alligators in Florida) are reasons managers might limit swimming. Visitors should observe posted signs, follow county or park guidance and use caution; when conditions are good, the lake’s summer temperatures make it a popular spot for open-water swimming and other recreational activities.
