Lovewell Reservoir, in northeastern Kansas, experiences a wide annual swing in surface water temperatures typical of inland plains reservoirs. In summer, surface waters commonly warm to roughly 75–85°F (24–29°C) on hot afternoons, making conditions more comfortable for swimming. Late spring and early fall are transitional, with surface temperatures often between about 45–65°F (7–18°C) depending on air temperature and recent weather.
