*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Loughborough Lake in southeastern Ontario is a clear, deep freshwater lake located north of Kingston. Its water temperature varies greatly with the seasons due to the region’s continental climate. In early spring, after the ice melts in April, the lake remains quite cold, with surface temperatures around 41–46°F (5–8°C). By late May and June, as air temperatures rise, the water warms to 59–68°F (15–20°C), making it suitable for short swims. The peak summer months of July and August bring the warmest conditions, when surface temperatures often reach 72–77°F (22–25°C), especially in shallow bays. In autumn, the lake cools rapidly, dropping below 59°F (15°C) by October, and by November it becomes too cold for swimming.
Swimming is allowed in Loughborough Lake, and many locals and visitors enjoy it during the warm season. The lake’s clean, calm waters and scenic surroundings make it ideal for swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. However, swimmers should be aware that the deeper parts of the lake stay cool even in summer, and hypothermia can occur if one stays too long in open water. The best time for comfortable swimming is from late June through early September, when both the weather and water temperatures are most favorable.
