*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Sulphur Springs, near the city of Sulphur Springs in northeast Texas, experiences water temperatures that follow a typical seasonal pattern for small inland reservoirs in the region. In summer the surface often warms into the mid-to-upper 70s and 80s °F (about 25–31 °C), and during heat waves it can approach the low 90s °F (32–33 °C). Transitional seasons such as spring and fall usually see temperatures from the mid 50s to mid 70s °F (13–24 °C). In winter the water cools substantially, commonly falling into the 40s and low 50s °F (4–12 °C), which makes prolonged swimming uncomfortable for most people.
Swimming is generally allowed where public access and beach or launch areas exist, and many locals and visitors use the lake for recreation in warm months. Access and swimming may be limited or discouraged at times because of safety concerns (such as underwater hazards, boating activity, or lack of lifeguards) or water-quality advisories related to algal blooms or runoff. Visitors should therefore use designated swimming spots, heed posted signs or advisories, and take usual precautions—especially in colder months when hypothermia is a risk and in summer when shallow warm water can promote algae growth.
