** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Voulismeni (Λίμνη Βουλισμένη) in Agios Nikolaos is a small, semicircular coastal lake connected to the sea, so its water temperature closely follows local Mediterranean sea conditions. Typical seasonal ranges are roughly 15–17 °C (59–63 °F) in winter, 16–20 °C (61–68 °F) in spring, 24–27 °C (75–81 °F) in summer, and 20–24 °C (68–75 °F) in autumn. Because the lake is relatively deep and exchanges water with Mirabello Bay through a narrow channel, temperatures can be moderated compared with open shallows: it may warm a little in prolonged calm summer weather and remain cooler during cold spells. Local weather, wind and occasional freshwater influxes will also shift these averages year to year.
Swimming in Lake Voulismeni itself is generally not permitted as an organized activity. The restriction stems from its function as a historic and urban landmark, the presence of moored boats and pedestrian traffic, and municipal safety and hygiene regulations intended to protect both visitors and the site. As a result, swimmers are normally directed to nearby beaches and the open waters of Mirabello Bay, where bathing is allowed and lifeguard coverage and water quality monitoring are more appropriate for recreational swimming.
