Tuzla Gölü in Kayseri is a shallow inland lake whose surface water temperatures follow the continental climate of central Anatolia. In spring the lake typically warms from around 5–15 °C (41–59 °F) as air temperatures rise and inflow increases. Summer afternoons can push surface waters into a comfortable range of roughly 18–28 °C (64–82 °F), and in particularly hot, sunny spells shallow parts may reach near 30 °C (86 °F). Autumn cooling brings temperatures back to about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F), while winter often lowers the lake close to freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice or very cold near-shore conditions possible in cold years. Seasonal and annual variability is common because the lake is relatively shallow and responds quickly to weather and evaporation.
Swimming at Tuzla Gölü (Tuzla Lake) is generally uncommon and often discouraged rather than promoted. Factors include elevated salinity or alkalinity in parts of the lake, fluctuating water levels, lack of formal bathing facilities and services, and ecological sensitivity—many such inland lakes serve as important habitats for birds and other wildlife, so local authorities may restrict access.
