** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gelingüllü Dam (Gelingüllü Barajı) is a reservoir in the Yozgat region of Central Anatolia whose surface temperatures follow the continental climate cycle. In winter the water often drops near freezing, typically around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F). During spring surface temperatures rise to roughly 6–18 °C (43–64 °F) as snowmelt and runoff warm the reservoir. Peak summer warmth generally occurs in July and August, when surface readings commonly reach about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) and occasionally a few degrees higher on calm sunny days. In autumn the temperature usually falls back to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as cooling air temperatures and renewed inflow lower the surface layer.
Swimming at Gelingüllü is not a simple yes-or-no matter; access and safety are governed by local water management, safety considerations and water quality. Many Turkish reservoirs used for irrigation, drinking water or flood control restrict recreational swimming to protect infrastructure and public health, and Gelingüllü may have similar limits or signage advising against entering the water. Even where informal bathing occurs, swimmers face hazards such as steep banks, sudden depth changes, no lifeguards, cold thermoclines outside summer months, boat traffic and possible algal or pollutant episodes. If visiting, check local authority guidance and only swim where explicitly permitted and supervised; the most comfortable conditions for swimming are normally the warm midsummer weeks when surface temperatures approach the low to mid 20s °C (around 70–80 °F).
