** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Pozzillo (Lago Pozzillo) is an artificial reservoir in central Sicily whose surface waters follow the island’s Mediterranean climate. Typical summer surface temperatures commonly reach about 22–27 °C (72–81 °F) on warm days, while late spring and early autumn usually see values around 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). In winter the water cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), with colder spells occasionally producing slightly lower readings near the surface. Temperature can vary locally with depth, time of day and wind conditions; deeper or shaded areas remain cooler even in summer.
Swimming in and around Lago Pozzillo is practiced by locals and visitors in summer because the water becomes pleasantly warm and the shoreline offers spots for access. However, it is not uniformly unrestricted: some sections near dams, intakes or steep banks are closed for safety, operational and water-management reasons. Currents, sudden depth changes, submerged structures and regulations intended to protect infrastructure or water quality can limit where swimming is permitted. Visitors should follow posted signs and local guidance, choose shallow, designated access points, and be aware that cooler seasonal temperatures make swimming in spring and autumn brisk and in winter generally inadvisable for prolonged immersion.
