Lago di Lentini, a large inland wetland in eastern Sicily, experiences marked seasonal variation in water temperature typical of Mediterranean shallow lakes. In winter the surface usually cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). During spring the water warms to around 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) as air temperatures rise, and in summer it can reach approximately 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) in sheltered, shallower zones. Autumn brings a gradual cooling back toward the spring range, often 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). Shallow depths and extensive reedbeds mean the lake can warm quickly on sunny days but also cool rapidly at night or after storms.
Swimming at Lago di Lentini is not broadly promoted and is subject to local rules and conservation concerns. Parts of the lake and surrounding wetlands are protected as the Biviere di Lentini reserve, and sections are managed for irrigation and habitat preservation, so bathing is often discouraged or regulated to protect wildlife and water quality.
