*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Flint Creek (also known as Lake SWEPCO) in Benton County, Arkansas, is a unique water body due to its connection to a power plant. Unlike typical area lakes, it experiences significantly warmer water temperatures year-round because the plant discharges warm water, sometimes over 100∘F (38∘C), back into the lake. While the main body of the lake experiences seasonal shifts, it generally stays warm even in winter, with temperatures remaining in the high 40s to 60s F (4∘C to 16∘C) or higher. In the peak summer season, surface temperatures are very warm, often reaching 77∘F to 85∘F (25∘C to 29∘C).
Swimming is generally permitted in Lake Flint Creek, and the area offers public access, but it is highly regulated and comes with significant warnings. The lake does not feature designated, supervised public swimming beaches with lifeguards, meaning all swimming is strictly at one's own risk. Furthermore, due to the warm water temperatures and nutrient conditions, the lake is susceptible to Harmful Algae Blooms (HABs), commonly known as blue-green algae. The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has issued advisories and temporary closures for swimming in the past due to these blooms, which pose a health risk if water is ingested or makes skin contact.
