** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Eddleman’s water temperature follows the typical patterns of small Texas reservoirs: it is coolest in winter, commonly ranging from about 45–60°F (7–16°C), warms through spring to roughly 55–75°F (13–24°C), reaches its highest surface values in mid- to late summer around 75–90°F (24–32°C), and then cools again in fall to about 60–80°F (16–27°C). These are approximate surface ranges; deeper water will remain cooler and short-term swings occur with cold fronts or heat waves. Seasonal stratification, runoff after heavy rains, and local weather all influence measured temperatures, so conditions can change substantially within a single season.
Swimming opportunities depend on local management and safety conditions rather than just temperature. At many small Texas lakes similar to Lake Eddleman, organized or designated swimming areas are limited or restricted because of reasons such as lack of lifeguards, variable water quality (including algal blooms or bacterial contamination), submerged hazards, and the lake’s use for fishing or flood control. If informal swimming is attempted, the most comfortable and safer period from a temperature standpoint is late spring through early fall when surface temperatures exceed about 70°F (21°C), but visitors should always follow posted rules and check current water-quality advisories before entering the water.
