Water Temperature: Daily Trends, Historical Records, and Forecast
❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 47°F (8°C) to 50°F (10°C). This is still cool water, suitable only for experienced swimmers or those accustomed to cold water. Swimming in such conditions is possible, but not recommended for prolonged periods. Extra caution should be taken during extended exposure, as the cold water can cause heat loss and lead to hypothermia. For added comfort, special clothing can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Iešjávri is a large, high-latitude lake in Finnmark County, and its water temperatures reflect the Arctic climate. In summer the surface temperature typically rises to about 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) on average, and on unusually warm days it may approach 16–18 °C (61–64 °F). In autumn and spring the lake cools rapidly, with surface readings commonly in the range 1–8 °C (34–46 °F) as the season changes and ice forms or melts. During winter the lake is usually frozen or has ice cover, and the water beneath the ice remains close to 0 °C (32 °F). Local conditions and weather variability mean these figures are approximate; shallows warm more quickly than deep parts and wind and sunshine can cause significant day-to-day variation.
Swimming in Iešjávri is generally possible in the warmest months because Norway’s public access rights allow use of shorelines, but it is not a typical summer bathing destination like coastal beaches. There are few facilities, no lifeguards, and the remote surroundings make solo swimming risky. Cold-water hazards and hypothermia are real even at mid-summer temperatures, so swimmers should wear protective gear such as wetsuits, go with companions, and be cautious of sudden weather changes. In winter the frozen surface prohibits ordinary swimming, though experienced ice swimmers sometimes enter waters through holes in the ice with proper safety measures.
