** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Encoro das Forcadas is a reservoir in Galicia whose water temperatures follow the region’s temperate Atlantic climate and can vary substantially through the year. In winter the surface water typically cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), spring brings a gradual rise to about 10–16 °C (50–61 °F), and in the warmest weeks of summer temperatures often reach 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), with occasional warmer patches in shallow bays. During autumn the water usually drops back to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Local conditions—depth, inflow from streams, shading by vegetation, and recent weather—can shift these values noticeably from one part of the reservoir to another.
Swimming is physically feasible in the warmer months when surface temperatures approach the upper end of these ranges, and people do bathe in many Galician reservoirs. However, whether swimming is officially permitted at Encoro das Forcadas depends on local management: some reservoirs restrict bathing to protect water quality, drinking-water intake or for safety reasons such as steep banks, submerged hazards and boat traffic. Before entering the water it is advisable to check posted signs or with municipal authorities, and to consider water temperature and currents, since even summer surface warmth can hide cold layers in deeper water.
