*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Coeur d'Alene Lake in northern Idaho is a clear, glacier- and snowmelt-fed body of water whose surface temperatures vary noticeably through the year. In spring the lake is brisk, often ranging from about 40–60°F (4–16°C) as runoff and cool nights keep it chilly. By summer, especially in July and August, nearshore temperatures commonly warm to roughly 60–75°F (16–24°C), with the warmest readings in shallow bays on sunny days. Fall brings cooling waters back toward about 45–60°F (7–16°C) as air temperatures drop, and in winter the surface can sit near freezing to the low 40s°F, roughly 32–45°F (0–7°C), depending on weather and ice presence in sheltered coves.
Swimming in Coeur d’Alene Lake is permitted and popular in the warmer months because public beaches and parks provide access and generally acceptable water quality. Opportunities for safe swimming are best in late summer when surface temperatures are highest; earlier or later in the season the cold water increases hypothermia risk and may require a wetsuit or short swims. Visitors should also account for boat traffic, steep drop-offs in some areas, and local advisories about water quality or algal conditions when choosing where and when to swim.
