*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Cedar Creek Reservoir in northeast Texas experiences a wide annual variation in surface water temperature. Winter surface readings commonly fall in the mid-40s to mid-50s °F (about 7–13 °C), while spring warming typically brings temperatures into the mid-50s to mid-70s °F (13–24 °C). Summer highs often range from the mid-70s up into the 80s or low 90s °F (24–33 °C), with the warmest days occasionally pushing temperatures toward the mid-90s °F (35 °C). In autumn the lake usually cools back into the 60s and 70s °F (16–27 °C). These are general surface ranges; deeper water remains cooler and short-term swings occur with weather, inflow and reservoir management.
Swimming is generally allowed in parts of Cedar Creek Reservoir and at some parks and private access points, because the lake is used for a variety of recreational activities. However, there are no widespread lifeguard services and certain locations prohibit swimming near boat ramps, marinas or the dam for safety. Factors such as boat traffic, submerged structure, sudden drop-offs and occasional water-quality issues (including algal blooms) are why swimmers should exercise caution, choose designated recreational areas, and heed posted advisories before entering the water.
